Arts and Crafts Doonfoot After School Services (DASS)

2025-06-11  •  No comments  •  Doonfoot After School Service  •  Ayr South & Villages

We are committed to keeping an inclusive and supportive environment for all participants and the funding would be helping the 74 children who currently attend DASS (we're hoping more will join with the new P1 intake).  The project will be to purchase Arts and Crafts items.  Our young people currently freely use the outdoor spaces on the land for physcial activity but we greatly miss Arts and Crafts.  The objective is to help our young people enjoy their experience in our service whilst using their own expressive ways to communicate and have fun, learn and create. We like to give our young people freedom to be creative and to work on project themes directed by staff.  We will work on making items from our environment like tunnels and creating images and characters important to the individual for example; making a cat or a house out of crafts.  We will be offering painting, cutting and glue work, coloured card activities, clay work, string work, crayons, pipe cleaning and paper plates along with buttons, cotton balls, tapes, etc. We would greatly appreciate the chance to provide this service again.

Oshay’s Book printing and Book Launch for South Ayrshire Libraries

2025-06-03  •  No comments  •  claireNC  •  Ayr South & Villages

Printing copies of ‘Oshay’s Party Invite’ - £900.00 for approx. 200 copies.

The story of 'Oshay's Party Invite' was written by one of the children Oshay’s support, and is how we got our current name, It’s an inspiring children’s story all about friendship and inclusion, following an octopus named Oshay. At the moment we have the book in pdf form, but we would love to have printed copies of the paperback book issued to each of the south Ayrshire libraries if possible and be able to issue a copy to families that we support. We would also be able to collect donations for copies of the book which could contribute towards reprinting the book in the future. We have contacted South Ayrshire libraries and have the information we need for the book to be issued to each library in South Ayrshire if we are successful, and they are supportive of the idea.

The books will also be used for reading sessions in nurseries and schools, where copies are given out to children to read along with us – the story follows a character who is ‘different’ from his friends, and it shows how help and support from friends can help people thrive. As well as the positive messaging within the story, we intend to use the books to encourage reading in the families that we work with, improving literacy, and strengthening bonds between children and guardians.

2 X Eco Roller Banners (PVC Free) - £133.27

We would like to hold an event to launch the book and we could really do with updating our outdated marketing materials for Oshay’s – so we have also included a request for 2 new roller banners which can be used for years to come to promote what we do at events. We would like to work with South Ayrshire Libraries on a book launch event which these would be used at.

New Desktop Computer for our Main Office - ASUS AiO A5402WVA 23.8" All-in-One PC – Intel® Core™ i7, 1 TB SSD, Black - £949.00

Now that we are working hard to develop our social media and online presence, we have noticed that our computer is really struggling with the increased usage and is often unable to keep up with editing photos and videos – we would like to apply for a new PC for the office that can keep up with the demands of creating content to promote what we do. Our current PC is so slow and is now struggling with everyday tasks. We also need to finalise some edits to the book before it goes to print; a new computer that could run this software would allow us to do this in house and save us cost of outsourcing this. We are also hoping to start a podcast which will provide support for neurodiverse families and we would need a new computer with more processing power to be able to make this happen. The model we hope to purchase has enough processing power to handle all of the above and will last us well into the future.

Annbank United - Clubhouse Replacement

2025-06-06  •  4 comments  •  annbankcfc  •  Ayr South & Villages

We have a cabin which we would be looking to furnish with the equipment required to be a fully functioning Clubhouse. At the moment this is a shell and would require to be fully fitted out to be functional. The Clubhouse will be used for providing refreshments to the local community who come to watch our games, games are well attended. It is our intention to try and enhance the development of the club and provide further activities at the park, hopefully using the Clubhouse as a meeting and social space for players and the wider community.

We would require:

- a kitchen/ store set up including worktops, oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, washing machine/ tumble drier, cutlery

- a social area set up - tables & chairs

- full plumbing and wiring

We are beginning to develop wider links with more local agencies, e.g. Housing Department and Social Work, and voluntary organisations who contact us with requests for specific items, so we need to organise our storage unit so that we can repond quickly.  We want to purchase racking and clear boxes to store items in plus clothes rails to hang clothes to enable this.  Estimated costs: heavy duty shelving £1,790.42 +VAT, heavy duty clothes rails £120.00 and storage boxes £38.00.

The Ayr Ark - GameChanger

2025-06-05  •  No comments  •  Zsuzsa Pato-McGibbon  •  Ayr South & Villages

We are hoping to set up our own football team as part of our Friday Night Drop-In and our Summer Programme Project, and develop the team further as the new school year starts. We have access to great indoor and outdoor space; but due to having lack of equipment we haven`t managed to utilise these spaces yet for more organised sport activities.

Quite a few young people visiting the Ark show great interest in football and we think it would be an exciting opportunity for them to be able to set up their own team. The proposed team name is Ark United.

We are looking to arrange personalised football kit, football agility and speed training kit, training footballs and a target net for the goal post.

We would also love to promote the love of golf amongst the children visiting us, especially with Scotland being the "birthplace" of golf. The equipment we would like to purchase would be suitable for indoor play too and also could be used outdoors.

We are looking to invest into 2 Golf indoor/outdoor putting mat, some golf putters, golf ball and a golf chipping game set ("golf darts").

As part of our Summer Holiday Programme we are looking to organise a golfing experience day and we would like to be able to provide continuity for the kids who show greater interest in the sport.

We do understand that funds are limited and we are happy to work with any funding availability and alter our project accordingly if that is an option.

Unpaid Carers – Free First Aid Training

2025-06-12  •  No comments  •  Carers Gateway  •  Ayr South & Villages

This funding will allow us to deliver free monthly First Aid courses (adult, youth & family sessions) within Ayr South, led by a qualified instructor that we have secured to significantly reduce costs in comparison to hiring independent training providers. This funding will allow for the purchase of the equipment needed to run the courses. Each session (up to 12 participants) features hands on practice with manikins, AED simulators and realistic scenarios. The funding will allow the supply all consumable training equipment, CPR manikins, first-aid kits, protective PPE and we will invite partner charities to join free of charge, boosting inter-agency referrals and carer resilience.

Demonstrated Need & Local Impact: Our last Carers First Aid course was oversubscribed (16 places, 8-person waitlist),demonstrating strong local demand. Unpaid carers tell us they can lack emergency response confidence: first-aid skills reduce anxiety and prevent crisis escalation.Monthly training makes life saving skills accessible to carers in our area, plus family members. Partner charities (local dementia support, mental-health services) will rotate free places, enhancing referral pathways and shared learning.

Red Bags Full of Joy

2025-06-11  •  No comments  •  Night Before Christmas Campaign  •  Ayr South & Villages

We rely soleley on donations and fundraising and over the past few years we have struggled with providing fred bags for older children.  We often put games into these bags as this is something which older children enjoy but we find that we dont have as many donations of these as we would like.  The funding would be to purchase as many boardgames as possible and our team of volunteers would then be able to use these for the bags for older children.

Mossblown Matters - Wind and watertight protection before the winter

2025-06-04  •  No comments  •  Dianne Campbell  •  Ayr South & Villages

We have spent some time replacing the main windows in both halls with double glazing and we put new fire doors in.  We would like to double glaze the remaining windows in the toilets and back of the hall as they are starting to rot and not keeping the heat in.  The people using the community centre will benefit from this as the place will be warmer.
