Community empowerment processes support people to do things for themselves and enable people to take control over the decisions and factors that affect their lives and communities. It also involves communities having greater influence and input to decision-making.

The Community Empowerment Fund continues to support community groups in delivering services that meet local needs while contributing to community-led regeneration. This includes fostering healthy, safe, and inclusive communities, enhancing community spaces, and supporting local economic development. It also reflects the increasing role of community groups in addressing issues such as active travel, cultural and heritage development, and local sports, which directly align with national priorities for creating thriving, resilient communities.

For the year 2025/2026 South Ayrshire Council has committed £100,000 to establish a Community Empowerment Fund to support community groups with projects that promote community empowerment.

For this year the funding will be split £20,000 for revenue costs and £80,000 for capital costs.

Applications are now open the UKSPF Community Empowerment Fund 25-26.

To begin your application, click the 'Download the application form here' button at the bottom of this page and begin your application. This is a word document.

Once you have completed your application please go to 'Create a Funding Application' tab at the top right of this page and complete the following fields:

Title - Group Name

Project Summary - Project Name only

Description - N/A

Estimated cost - amount applying for

Project Picture - if you have a picture of your organisation/group (this is optional)

Documents - upload your completed application only here, as per the application other relevant documents should be emailed to grants@south-ayrshire.gov.uk

Then check agree box for Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions of use and submit application.

The closing date is Thursday 1st May at 5pm.

Reviewing projects

Thank you to everyone who has submitted an application!

Applications have now closed, and are now being reviewed by the awards panel.

An awards panel comprising of a representative from the Community Planning Partnership, Third Sector organisations and South Ayrshire Council officers, who will review all applications and inform groups of the outcome of their submission.

The Award panel decisions are final, there is no appeals process.

We may contact you during this period to confirm information or ask for additional information, so please keep checking your inbox (and junk/spam folders) just in case.

All applicants will be notified via email once the status of their application has been confirmed.
