Cozy Community

No comments Stuart Watson Coastal Communities Fund 2026 - 2027

Ayr United’s Cozy Community programme is designed to help alleviate winter fuel poverty in the local area, and provide a community space for Ayr North residents to get a heat, have a blether and get support. It will primarily support households in SIMD 1 areas within the KA8 postcode in North Ayr, where families are more likely to face low incomes, rising living costs and significant financial pressure.

Maybole Castle - Developing Carrick's Heritage Hub

No comments smnmck Coastal Communities Fund 2026 - 2027

Although Maybole Castle is located inland, its proposed function as Carrick's Heritage Hub is specifically intended to benefit the wider area, including the area’s coastal communities. Carrick has a substantial range of coastal heritage, natural attractions, visitor destinations, and community initiatives. However, there is an opportunity to connect these more effectively and encourage visitors to explore beyond individual attractions. By promoting the Castle as a gateway to Carrick, the project will help visitors discover coastal destinations, including Dunure, Maidens, Turnberry, Girvan, Lendalfoot, and Ballantrae. The project will contribute to the local economy by encouraging additional visitor spending in shops, cafés, accommodation businesses, attractions, and other services. It will also provide opportunities for local artists, craftspeople, and suppliers to benefit from merchandise development and future visitor activities. By connecting heritage attractions and community initiatives across Carrick, the project will strengthen the area's identity as a distinctive visitor destination and help make its communities more attractive places to visit, live, and work.

Skills for Outdoor Adventure and Resilience - SOAR Clubs

No comments Vincent McWhirter Coastal Communities Fund 2026 - 2027

We are proposing to partner with a local outdoor play business called UnderSky, Adventure Carrick and Swim Safe Ayrshire which we have worked with many times before to deliver three unique opportunities to local children and families in the Ayr community. This Skills for Outdoor Adventure and Resilience (SOAR) project has multiple impacts relating to South Ayrshire Council priorities through community wellbeing, trauma support, high-quality recreation, lifelong learning, water safety, pride in place, celebration of local natural heritage plus helping connect families with nature and build climate literacy. There are three main focuses for this project: 1. Outdoor Play and Nature Connection for children: Building nature and climate literacy, active outdoor play and environmental awareness into the lives of children and young people 2. Outdoor Skills Training for adults: Building confidence in the outdoors, intergenerational play ideas and natural history skills into the lives of parents and carers. 3. Swim Safe delivery programme: Provide a structured RNLI water safety programme on Ayr beach with Swim Safe Ayrshire delivering a land and water-based safety programme. The Ayrshire RNLI water Safety team are constantly in demand to deliver water safety talks and presentations to local schools, youth groups, scouts and uniform groups. The Swim Safe Programme takes the next step of providing practical in the water guidance lessons and safety advice.
