Final Phase of Consultation

South Ayrshire Council is continuing to carry out a review of the current Scheme for Establishment of Community Councils (the Scheme), and Guidance for Community Councils, in line with procedures outlined within the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973.

Following two earlier rounds of consultation, responses and feedback have been reviewed and collated. We are now entering the final phase of the consultation and are seeking any remaining feedback on the proposed changes to the scheme. 

We have included updated draft and previous draft showing further recommended changes based on the previous consultation feedback.

We’re looking to hear from residents; Community Councils; Community groups and organisations; or anyone who may be impacted directly or indirectly by any proposed changes.

There are no specific questions as part of the consultation, we are just asking for general feedback.  It would be appreciated if you are commenting on a particular section or part that you, please note the number in your response.

The closing date is Sunday 18 January 2026.

A final draft proposed Scheme will then be submitted to Council for final approval in February 2026, with the intention that the new Scheme will come into effect from Wednesday 1 April 2026.
