In relation to the identified priorities in the Guidance & Essential criteria what will your idea achieve and who will benefit from your project?

Curl Ayrshire Charity will deliver a transformational community regeneration project in Ayr North through the construction of a purpose-built, multi-use community hub on 1.5 acres of previously derelict land. Located within one of Scotland's most deprived communities (SIMD 1–2), the development will provide an international-standard four-sheet curling facility alongside flexible community spaces that support health, wellbeing, learning, volunteering and community activity throughout the year.

Please describe what you plan to do and what the money will be used for? (i.e., purchase equipment/resources)

The money will be used with match funding to create a multi use community asset in the Wallacetown area of North Ayr. It will fund the construction of the building which will contain flexible community meeting space, cafe and social facilities and car parking. Most of the building will consist of the creation of a 50x20 metre ice pad for curling in the winter months and as the ice is melted in the summer can be used for a variety of community functions. The money will also be spent on ice making equioment and solar panels,battery storage and heat pumps to create an environmentally sustainable community facility.

Location: This project will directly affect the residents of the Wallacetown area of North Ayr. As South Ayrshire no longer has an ice rink it will affect residents throughout the region

Proposed on behalf of: As Ayr Ice Rink closed in 2023 Curl Ayrshire Charity was set up in 2024 to try build this much needed asset and bring it into community ownership.
