The project will expand and enhance the existing Dundonald Castle Visitor Centre to meet growing demand from visitors, community groups and educational users. The current facility is operating at capacity and restricts opportunities for events, community activities, café operations and commercial growth.
Funding will be used to deliver a planned extension to the Visitor Centre, increasing the building footprint from approximately 112m² to 210m², alongside improvements to the surrounding visitor facilities. The project has been fully designed, costed and has planning consent in place.
The grant will specifically support:
- Construction of the new Visitor Centre extension.
- Associated professional and project delivery costs.
- Upgrades to the existing external patio area.
- Creation of an extended outdoor patio space.
- Installation of enhanced weather protection for external visitor areas.
The project will help attract more visitors to Dundonald Castle and the village, support local businesses, create new employment opportunities and strengthen the long-term financial sustainability of the charity. These improvements will also create additional space for community activities, education programmes, events and social gatherings, while increasing capacity for café, retail and wedding operations.
