Splash+ sessions will be targeted at local youth clubs in partnership with youth workers, South Ayrshire Barnardo’s, parents and young carers. Young people will experience a range of adventure activities and sports activities over the summer and autumn. Experienced instructors, coaches and volunteer staff will deliver and co-ordinate various water sports activities with an additional RNLI Water Safety message built into the sessions. Young people will gain valuable water confidence, and skillsPlease describe what you plan to do and what the money will be used for? (i.e., purchase equipment/resources)
We have partnered up with Troon Water Sports Hub, Troon RNLI Water Safety Team, Adventure Carrick, Kite Surf Scotland to develop a Blue Health programme focussed on Outdoor adventure sports and water safety swims sessions called “Swimsafe”. The Swim Safe programme is a new RNLI practical water-based safety programme to teach, encourage and support water skills, confidence and safety knowledge in coastal waters.
This partnership programme will build on the established links with the local youth clubs, emergency services, Active schools, young carers, young people and parents. It will encourage engagement in coastal maritime outdoor learning activities and outdoor adventure sports development. Funding will be used to deliver and develop this unique programme to establish Barassie Beach as a hub location for coastal maritime water sports and water safety education.
