Investment project code: 217

Estimated Cost

£3,000

In relation to the identified priorities in the Guidance & Essential criteria what will your idea achieve and who will benefit from your project?

The volleyball camps will target young potential players of late Primary/early Secondary age. The funding will reduce the cost to families and allow the purchase of equipment essential for the summer camp. The reduced cost should encourage application from families at risk from poverty and help families with multiple children and lone parent families. The aim is to be inclusive, remove any financial barriers and encourage young people into sport.

Please describe what you plan to do and what the money will be used for? (i.e., purchase equipment/resources)

The volleyball summer camps will provide a positive, inclusive and inspiring experience for young players.  These young participants gain confidence playing together in teams and learn skills by working together.  Their enthusiasm is encouraged and many will continue playing volleyball with the local volleyball club and their school.  Funding is required to purchase special volleyballs designed for young players along with ball trolleys and carry bags.  Specialist training equipment will also be purchased to help make learning new skills more fun and enjoyable.  The funding will be used to reduce or cover the cost of hall hire thus reducing the costs to parents and carers. These young participants will be encouraged to continue playing volleyball with their local club and funding will be used to reduce membership fees and subsidise hall hire costs.

Location: South Ayrshire. As a volleyball club we draw players from all over Ayrshire. Training id offered in Marr College and Ayr Academy and games played in Prestwick Academy and sometimes Maybole.
