Please describe what you plan to do and what the money will be used for? (i.e., purchase equipment/resources)

Dunure is a popular visitor attraction on the South Ayrshire coast with regular visitors who come to enjoy the location, facilities and relax in a stunning and tranquil setting. The Kennedy Park currently has 4 barbecue stations which residents and visitors alike can use with disposable/mobile barbecues. They barbecues are popular and regularly used over the spring and summer months. They have been in situ for quite a long time and are past their useful life and need upgraded. Disposable barbecues are challenging to dispose off and previously have caused fires within Kennedy Park as they have been put in the waste bin when not fully cooled and this had led to the bin going on fire. The proposal is to upgrade the barbecues so that they can be used as fixed barbecues with the appropriate charcoal pan and metal disposal bin for the waste. This will help to protect the environment, reduce potential for fires while still allowing use of barbecuing facilities. The project will be overseen by the Kennedy Hall and Park Committee and the works carried out by Morrell’s Forge. The project will continue to allow people to visit Dunure and use the barbecue facilities for gatherings and events. The upgrade to the facility will make the barbecues more user friendly but especially will reduce the potential for damage to the local environment whilst not reducing the opportunity for social engagement.
