In relation to the identified priorities in the Guidance & Essential criteria what will your idea achieve and who will benefit from your project?

We are helping to improve the community that we all Live, work and learn in by providing an emergency incident support service to the community. Our team is made up of dedicated local residents who take great pride in ensuring that we are available to help the community and emergency responders the help look after us.

Please describe what you plan to do and what the money will be used for? (i.e., purchase equipment/resources)

Our organisation faces significant operating costs, with public liability insurance alone costing several thousand pounds each year, alongside the ongoing expenses associated with running our main response vehicle.

This vehicle is used all year round, in all weather conditions and often in harsh off-road environments. As a result, it is subjected to considerably more wear and tear than the average vehicle. To ensure this vital asset remains safe, reliable, and operational, extensive annual maintenance is carried out. Each year, the underside is fully treated with U-POL Raptor protective coating, while cavity wax is applied inside the chassis to prevent corrosion and rust formation. This is followed by a full service and MOT inspection.

With rising fuel costs this year, our annual fuel bill (Including our ARGO XTV) is expected to increase significantly. We are seeking funding to help cover fuel costs throughout the duration of this project.

In addition, some of the vehicle’s reflective Battenburg safety markings require replacement after being accidentally damaged during operational activities. These reflective markings play a crucial role in improving visibility and safety while working at the roadside, particularly during nighttime operations.

By supporting this project, you will help reduce the considerable financial pressures involved in maintaining an effective and fully operational emergency response vehicle and reduce the barriers associated with increased fuel prices and every expense related to maintaining our pickup. Without this vehicle, our ability to respond and assist people across Carrick during emergency situations would be severely impacted.

This support will help ensure we can continue delivering a reliable service to those who may need us most.
