We are seeking support for The GoGirvan, Girvan Geology Group to enable them to develop by exploring some significant geological places they have identified an interest in visiting as field trips. These excursions aim to improve wellbeing by getting people outdoors in a social environment where they have a chance to learn and share Geological knowledge. 

We aim to increase local and wider interest in the area's internationally important geological heritage as a visitor attraction and encourage more people to learn about it through these excursions. 

The group enables local people of all ages to engage with the internationally significant geology on their doorstep, fostering pride in place and a deeper connection to the landscape. By offering accessible, low‑cost outdoor learning, these excursions widen participation in community life and promote wellbeing through nature‑based activity. They also enhance Girvan’s profile as a welcoming, knowledgeable destination, contributing to positive visitor experiences and supporting tourism. Led by Girvan Geology Group, the excursions can empower volunteers, encourage intergenerational involvement, and demonstrate strong community stewardship of South Ayrshire’s coastline. These outcomes deliver on the Council’s ambition to build confident, connected, and proud communities.
