In relation to the identified priorities in the Guidance & Essential criteria what will your idea achieve and who will benefit from your project?

Free summer football activities in Girvan and South Carrick improving health, reducing isolation and tackling food poverty, while creating volunteering and skills opportunities for young people.

Please describe what you plan to do and what the money will be used for? (i.e., purchase equipment/resources)

Ayr United Football Academy will deliver a free Summer School of Football for children and young people aged 8–16 in Girvan and surrounding South Carrick communities, including Barr, Barrhill, Ballantrae, Colmonell, Dailly and Pinwherry.

Delivered at Victory Park and other local facilities, the programme will run three days per week for seven weeks during the summer holidays, providing free football and multi-sport activities, healthy food and a safe, structured environment. The project will reduce social isolation, improve physical and mental wellbeing and help tackle holiday hunger for families affected by poverty.

The programme will also create volunteering opportunities for local young people, supporting them to gain coaching experience, qualifications and employability skills.

By removing financial barriers and providing free access to high-quality activities, the project will ensure children and young people across South Carrick can stay active, build friendships and benefit from the Scottish FA’s vision of using the power of football to transform lives and communities.
