Cozy Community

Stuart Watson No comments Coastal Communities Fund 2026 - 2027

In relation to the identified priorities in the Guidance & Essential criteria what will your idea achieve and who will benefit from your project?

Ayr United’s Cozy Community programme is designed to help alleviate winter fuel poverty in the local area, and provide a community space for Ayr North residents to get a heat, have a blether and get support. It will primarily support households in SIMD 1 areas within the KA8 postcode in North Ayr, where families are more likely to face low incomes, rising living costs and significant financial pressure.

Please describe what you plan to do and what the money will be used for? (i.e., purchase equipment/resources)

How the Programme Will Help

The programme will offer a safe, warm and welcoming space where local households can meet others, access practical advice and be directed to additional support services. Alongside the weekly drop-in centre, eligible households may receive space heaters, heated garments or blankets. Where these items are not required, support may instead be provided towards energy costs through fuel vouchers or prepayment meter top-ups.

Electrical Safety Support

The use of additional electrical equipment can increase the risk of fire in the home. To help reduce this risk, the programme will provide portable appliance testing (PAT) to check that heaters and other electrical items are safe and operating efficiently. Items can be brought to the drop-in centre, and home visits will be available where necessary.
