Develop plans for an accessible, community-owned hub in Tarbolton, shaped by residents, creating opportunities for local activities, learning and support for people of all ages.
Please describe what you plan to do and what the money will be used for? (i.e., purchase equipment/resources)
We are seeking £5,992 to develop plans for Tarbolton Community Hub at 69–71 Montgomerie Street and involve residents in shaping its design.
Of this, £3,992 will contribute towards the £31,992 professional design commission covering RIBA Stages 0–2, alongside £28,000 requested from the Scottish Land Fund. This will assess the site, refine the community brief and produce a concept design and initial cost plan, supporting future acquisition and capital funding applications.
The remaining £2,000 will fund consultation and project communications delivered by our trustees and volunteers, including printed leaflets and questionnaires, venue hire, consultation displays, accessible materials and local promotion.
These activities will help residents understand the proposals, contribute their views and see how their feedback influences the design. Paper responses and face-to-face opportunities will support participation by people who do not use online channels.
The proposed Hub would provide flexible spaces for community activities, learning, support and social contact. This funding will help establish an achievable, affordable proposal that reflects local needs and supports our ambition for a welcoming, accessible community-owned facility serving Tarbolton and surrounding communities.
